OUR HISTORY
Established in 1976 with 36 volunteers and 2 ambulances
First volunteer corps to become certified, this means that we must have an EMT on every call
Started out in a large red barn where Stanton Meadows now stands
February of 1978 moved to RT 5&20 where Verizon now stands
1978 started training for advanced respiratory care
1980 started training for IV therapy
1984 started running with Critical Care Techs
1986 moved to RT 414
2006 we started to be dispatched by the county 911 system; prior to this we did all our own dispatching
2008 we moved to 1645 North Road in Waterloo
This new building is built with GEO thermal heating/air-conditioning. It is computer networked with hopes of becoming networked with 911
The building will be available for community meetings and training.
We now have 4 ALS equipped ambulances
We are 99% volunteer with 53 members and 4 full time paid paramedics and 4 full time paid EMT.
We operate 24/7 365 days a year
We are available for stand-bys and special events
COVERAGE AREA
We have the largest geographical coverage area in New York State. We cover the northern end of Seneca County, From RT 336 in the south to Wayne County line in the north to Ontario County line in the west and Cayuga County line in the east. We also cover a 13 mile stretch of the New York State thruway.
